DIY Methods for How Fix to Scratches On Your Car

When you have a tiny scratch on your door, and you don’t think it’s worth it to take it into a dealership for a fix, Coral Gables drivers can follow these steps on how to fix scratches on your car:

  • Sandpaper – Rub the area down with 2000-grit wet sandpaper, and then, once the scratch is nearly gone, apply a rubbing compound.
  • Candle wax – This isn’t a long-term solution, but you can always temporarily seal the scratch with melt from a similarly colored candle wax.
  • Super glue – Just like candle wax, you can apply super glue over the scratch to help blur our and mask the damage.

DIY Tips on How to Fix a Dent in a Car

As with scratches, sometimes dents are so minor that it may not be worth the money for a repair. That, however, doesn’t mean you can’t repair the car dent yourself. Check out our suggestions on how to fix a dent in a car:

  • Plunger – You can use your toilet plunger to do this, though we recommend purchasing a car dent plunger. Simply suction your plunger onto the dent and pull back. After a few tries, the dent should level out.
  • Hammer or Mallet – If you can confidently reach the opposite side of the dent, then you may be able to use a hammer or mallet to knock the dented spot back into place. Be sure to hammer over a towel so that you don’t scratch up another surface on your car.
  • Dent puller – This one is tricky, and we only recommend doing it if you think you have the know-how to follow through with all of the steps. To pull a dent, you’ll want to drill a hole in the crater, lacing the wire through and pulling the dent back to surface level. Then you’ll need to find a material to plug the hole with. Finally, you’ll want to sand everything down to level off the surface and repaint it.
